The Process

Due to our expertise in forensic engineering investigation and experience with weather events we may have been nominated by your insurance company or repair builder to provide engineering services.

We understand it can be incredibly stressful having damage to your property. We will work with your insurance company or repair builder to ensure the process is as quick, efficient and painless as possible. Below is a guide of what you can expect during the process:

01
Work order request

We will receive a request from your insurance company or repair builder to send a Forensic Engineer or Structural Engineer to your property. This request will include contact details of the person living at the property (homeowner or tenant) and details of what our engineer needs to inspect.

02
Initial contact

Our administration team will reach out to you via SMS or phone call within 1 day of the work order being received to advise we have been appointed as the engineer for your property. Our SMS advises we will be in further contact to confirm an inspection date.

03
Inspection booking request

Our administration team will assess our availability and send you a booking request for an engineer to attend your property. You will be given a time window for the inspection and asked to confirm is this date and time is suitable. Your inspection will then either be confirmed, or an alternative date offered if the initial inspection date is not suitable.

04
Reminder notification

Our administration team will send you a reminder SMS message the day prior to ensure you are still available for the upcoming inspection.

05
Inspection

Our engineer will attend your property and complete an inspection of the areas requested by your insurance company or repair builder. This inspection will take between 45 minutes to 1 hour. Our engineer will speak to yourself to get an understanding of your concerns and then will take a number of photos. Additionally, our engineer may use specialist equipment such as a hydraulic level, laser level, thermal image camera, moisture metre or crack gauge. In instances of roof damage, our engineer may need to access your ceiling via the maintenance hole or access the roof itself.

We kindly request at the time of the inspection any electronic gates are opened, and any dangerous animals are restrained.

06
Specialist Report

Our engineer will then utilise all information gathered (statements from the owner or tenant, photos and specialist equipment readings) and prepare a specialist report addressing the matters requested by the insurance company or repair builder. This report will then be sent directly to the insurance company or repair builder. Please note, due to the detailed nature of these reports it may take up to ten (10) business days after the inspection date to finalise the report.

If you would like a copy of this report, please contact your insurance company/repair builder to make this request (unfortunately, we are not at liberty to release any reports directly to homeowners).

07
Questions and comments

If you have any questions or comments regarding your report, please reach out to your insurance company or repair builder – they will then forward these requests or comments to our engineer for their review and feedback. Our team will then review these queries and provide a response directly to the insurance company or repair builder.
